Carl Sammons (1886-1968). Carl Sammons was born in Kearney, NE. Sammons began his art studies in Sioux City, IA, while working as a sign painter. After moving to California in 1919, Carl Sammons studied at the CSFA. Settling in Oakland, he traveled extensively throughout California. He made painting trips to the Monterey Peninsula, Russian River, Palm Springs, Humboldt Country, and Santa Barbara. His representational landscapes and coastal scenes are highly sought after by collectors. Carl Sammons died in Oakland on Feb. 4, 1968.
